John Deere

Mobile, autonomic Powerbank.

The SESAM2 (“Sustainable Energy Supply for Agriculture Machinery No. 2”) is a fully functioning prototype of a fully electric, driverless agricultural machine from John Deere.

It impresses, above all, with its power and efficiency, with a total capacity of 1000 kWh, with which it can work in the fields autonomously or act as an energy source for other e-agricultural machines. With the inclusion of a driver’s cab, it can still be moved conventionally or by remote control.
The design of the Sesam2 was a challenge because there was only a little remaining volume available between the technical components and the maximum possible dimensions for the modelling.

To provide formal structure, Poschwatta Automotive set the technical location of the drive, storage and control units in the outer skin, thereby creating a logical division of the overall volume. In the design process, the visual blocks were strictly segmented, and formally reduced, and specific design themes and surface treatment gave the body an appropriately dynamic look. As a result, the SESAM2 strikes an attractive dynamic balance in the interplay between form, color concept and graphic design.
